Lost 9:1 but that does not really tell the story. They were a better team but we competed hard and played some good passing play. Considering that we were 2:0 down after 2 minutes we did well to stem the flow through most of the first half. They were taller but we worked hard and Josh managed to win a free kick which he then converted into a penalty, which he then coolly slotted home.
1st XI v Boca Jnr U14s
Lost 8:3 on paper but won the game in the minds of the spectators and won the respect of the opposition.
They were much larger boys and had a large squad to rotate through and keep legs fresh. But we dominated most of the game and totally outplayed them when we got the ball down. It was a really physical game right from the off with some huge tackles going in and the team that looked at our physically small team at the start and smirked got bullied off the ball time and time again. Despite some their players creeping up towards 6 foot tall, our centre backs won the ball in the air! They scored on the break and taking advantage of the full size goals. It was an exciting physical battle and H and the rest of the tour team are really proud of the way that this represented the tour group, Brambletye and their country too! They will remember this match for a very long time!
A special thanks needs to go to the ref who let the action flow and only awarded 3 yellow cards ... We got just the one!
